BETROTHED by a young age, Maerad was destined to be married off into another herd, although she resented having to leave her family and hated her father for making her go, for it was all for diplomatic purposes anyway and Maerad hadn't even met her mate-to-be.
ESCAPEE on the journey to her new home, she stole away in the night and fled with the caravan on her heels, but managed to escape by traveling north to the glaciers, where the laarge number of horses couldn't go, although she nearly froze waiting them out; after they left, she escaped and didn't return to her family.

SELF-CONSCIOUS she cares about her outward looks and about how she should act and how she reflects on others, and sometimes too much; she's the opposite of a narcissist, but she often thinks she isn't good enough or that others will look down on her
