I n t h e S i g n o f t h e D o l p h i n
I touched ground ever lightly, the ground pulling me to its
cold warmth. It caressed my hooves after feeling nothing during
my long hours of flight. It was still abnormal, adjusting to have to
travel over the land and sea to reach distant places. I was used
to knowing a single thought in my mind and not even having to
think about it before it blossomed and grew in front of you. That
was the way it was in the Heaven, the Eden, the Elysium,
whichever title you preferred to give it, from which I and others
had come.
My wings beat the air, fluttering feathers creating a wind around
my slender white body. Once I steadied myself on the earthen
floor of soft grass, I reached out my dished face and shook my
mane lightly. I shuddered faintly and felt the wings growing from
my shoulders stiffen, and then they shortened, disappearing back
into my body. And here I was, one of my mortal forms. Confined
to this mundane body. I could have my wings whenever I
wanted, but I found the odd effects of earth travel to be slightly
tiring after so long. I could also assume other forms, mostly sea
creatures, when I wished. It wasn't trouble for me, but it pulled
power from my body sometimes. I still wasn't used to this body,
as beautiful as this form was. It still felt oddly like a containment,
or a prison sometimes. Peering over my shoulder, my aqua eyes
flickered over the jeweled imprint on my hip. A dolphin, my
luckiest animal. The dolphin meant truth, harmony, balance,
awareness, magic. It was my happiest and calmest and often
most powerful mindset. You see, the animal imprint on my hip
would change according to my emotion. Woe befall the one that
meets me when I'm in the mind of the Shark.
